How did Transparent Health Network Start?
Transparent Health Group's President, Betty Heiman, also runs a successful Radiology Facility. She thought she knew who the uninsured were. But more often than not, patients drove to her office, with credit cards and cash in their wallets - but no insurance card, often asking if there was any way to negotiate the retail fee. Who were these new faces of the uninsured? They were the working uninsured - independent contractors (1099s), Part Timers working 2-3 jobs, or Full Time employees who have been priced out of the company's insurance programs. These employees were not eligible or could not afford traditional health insurance products. They also couldn't afford the uninsured, full retail costs and didn't have access to affordable health care options. That gave Betty an idea and Transparent Health Group was born.
What is Transparent Health Network?
Transparent Health Group was founded by a team of entrepreneurs who believe that everyone - regardless of employment status, age or medical history - should have access to quality health care at affordable prices. Health care could be simple too - patients dealing directly with providers - no middle man processing claims or making medical denials.
To start, Transparent Health wanted the highest quality network possible, so we didn't just "buy" a prepackaged network, whose providers don't even know they're part of the plan, we built our own. The Providers and Medical Service companies in Transparent Health's network share our commitment to provide the working uninsured and under-insured quality health care at affordable prices. Transparent Health Network also puts health care decision-making back where it belongs: in the hands of caring providers, who can discuss treatment options with their patients without concerns about pre-authorization, referrals or denials from a disinterested third party.
Transparent Health Network recognizes that doctors and specialists are only part of an individual's medical care, that's why we've included Radiology, Laboratory services, and Dental providers. Additionally, access to discount prescriptions and pharmacy brand products are included as well.
Importantly, Transparent Health Network is not insurance. Our members are responsible for paying providers directly when they receive service. Direct payment keeps costs down by eliminating the need for cumbersome claims processes, payment delays, denials, pre-authorizations and referrals. Transparent Health offers something else insurance companies don't - Transparency. Our network features online access to fee schedules for common services. Our members know how much it will cost, before their medical appointments.
